Almost every failed bathroom we are called in to rebuild failed for the same handful of reasons: a shower pan that was never pre-sloped, a membrane that stopped short at the curb, a niche cut into a wall without being properly sealed, or an exhaust fan vented into the attic instead of outside.
None of those are visible once the tile is on. All of them show up eventually as a soft spot in the floor, a stain on a ceiling below, or a grout line that never quite dries. Repairing them means taking the finished room apart again.
We build the assembly so that water has one path and it leads to the drain. That means pre-sloped pans, membranes lapped in the correct direction, sealed penetrations, movement joints at changes of plane, and a flood test before tile goes down. It is slower than the alternative, and it is the reason the room stays sound.

Scope and selections drive this more than square footage. A powder room refresh is a different project from a primary bath taken to studs with relocated plumbing and custom glass. Shower glass in particular cannot be templated until the tile is finished, which adds time at the end of nearly every project. We give you a written schedule before work begins.
If the work involves moving plumbing or electrical, or any structural change, then generally yes in Los Angeles and Ventura County jurisdictions. Like-for-like fixture swaps sometimes do not. We confirm the requirement for your specific address and handle the submission.
Often, but it depends on the floor structure. A curbless entry needs the subfloor recessed or the whole bathroom floor built up so the pan can still slope to the drain. On a concrete slab or where joist direction cooperates it is very achievable. We check the structure during the site visit and tell you honestly whether it works in your home.
